WORCESTER PREMIER LEAGUE

THE DETAILS

Each regular season, eight players compete over seven weeks in single-elimination brackets. Every match is played as a best-of-three sets, with each set best-of-five legs, using 501 SIDO. Points are awarded only to players finishing in the top four each week.

After seven weeks, the top six players advance to the playoffs. The playoff format mirrors the regular season: best-of-three sets, best-of-five legs, 501 SIDO. The two players who finish at the bottom of the standings do not qualify. Instead, they must defend their place in the league through the WPL Play-In Tournament.

The Play-In Tournament is an invite-only event featuring twelve competitors. These players battle down to two finalists, who then face the at-risk WPL players. Winners of those matches secure a spot in the league.

PRIZING & PAYOUTS

There is no buy-in required to compete in the WPL. Every player is guaranteed a payout regardless of final placement. The total seasonal prize pool is funded through sponsors, donations, and merchandise sales.

THE FORMAT

REGULAR SEASON

Players compete across a seven-week regular season, earning points only by finishing in the Top 4 each night. With limited points available, every match is a critical step toward the playoffs.

PLAYOFFS

The top six players at season’s end qualify for the playoffs. The 1st and 2nd seeds receive a bye into the second round, guaranteeing them a Top 4 playoff finish.

RELEGATION

The 7th and 8th place finishers do not qualify directly. Instead, they are placed into the WPL Play-In Tournament, a mid-season relegation event.

THE PLAY-IN

The Play-In Tournament is an invite-only competition featuring 12 challengers. The top two advance to face the 7th and 8th seeded WPL players, with league spots on the line.
